Abstract: The new eara of technology, the Space Age, which we are on the threshold of, promises to be the most extensive technological enterprise which has ever been undertaken by man. President Kennedy has committed this country to reach the moon by 1970 and has asked for appropriations of 20 billion dollars to achieve thsi goal. The addition of the military efforts in space may raise this total to well above 25 billion dollars. The problem to which I have addressed my self today is an assessment of the present status of technology in the field of space navigation and guidance and to ascertain the future requirements in this field.
