A NAVIGATION SYSTEM USING DISTANCE AND DIRECTION MEASUREMENTS FROM A SATELLITE

E. S. Keats

Peer Reviewed

Abstract: The designer of a navigation satellite system faces choices in his method of approach. Westinghouse carefully examined the alternatives in a study performed for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and selected a system which is based on using distance and direction measurements from a single satellite. The reasons back of the decisions are reviewed and the preferred system is described.
