Abstract: THE ANGULAR WANDER is evaluated on the basis of a stochastic model of the wander rate. The wander of a continuously rotating gyroscope is reviewed, together with two methods for obtaining a constant signal to be applied as compensation for the bias. The case is then considered where stabilization about an axis is provided by two gyroscopes operating in a cycle of four modes, with periodic spin reversals. The results obtained by the ideal stochastic model suggest that a subsantial reduction iin teh angular wander can be achieved by the spin reversals method. There is a need for research to investigate the method experiemntally.
