ARBITRARY PATH MAGNETIC NAVIGATION BY RECURSIVE NONLINEAR ESTIMATION

Abstract: NONLINEAR SYSTEM STATE estimation theory is applied to the magnetic gradient navigation problem. This approach removes the heading constraints of previous methods and permits an essentially arbitrary path to be followed. The method was tested on a simplified model by Monte Carlo simulation. The results conform to the derived error expression.
