FUTURE ASPECTS OF MARINE NAVIGATION FOR SMALL CRAFT

Vernon I. Weihe

Abstract: THE STATE OF THE ART in micro-electronics and in instrumentation has now reached a level which justifies a thorough review of the navigational requirements of small craft. Increased performance with greater reliability can be achieved at lower cost. It is recommended that systems analyses be made which take into account (a) the nature of the environment, (b) the human factors, and (c) the optimization of equipment functions and groupings, and that a new generation of instrumentation systems be designed.
