THE TRAINING OF MASTERS AND PILOTS IN SHIP HANDLING IN GRENOBLE, FRANCE

Arthur McKenzie

Peer Reviewed

Abstract: FAULTY SHIP HANDLING is probably the prime cause of collisions and strandings. Training in the art of ship handling is effective using ship models large enough for the masters to sit in. The training facility using large models at Port Revel owned by an affiliate of Standard Oil Co. (N. J.) is open to any experienced master or officer. Other approaches to improving ship handling offer interesting possibilities and they are receiving serious study by Jersey.
