Abstract: INTRODUCTION SEVERAL NOTES AND ARTICLES on this subject (which was first proposed in 1966 by Sir Francis Chichester) have recently appeared in the Forum of the “Journal of the Institute of Navigutzon”, London (for example in Volume 19, 1966, on page1 06; with commentso n pages1 07t o 109); and has prompted many navigators to experiment with this ‘new method’ of finding longitude without time (for example in the Forum of the same Journal, Volume 19, 1966, on pages 392 to 394; and in Volume 21, 1968, on pages 234 and 235) and it is assumedth at more will Appeari n future issueso f the Journal.
