Abstract: The twenty-five years of publication of the Journal of The Institute of Navigation dates back to approcimately the end of World War II. A review of marine navigation developments during this quarter century cold therefore be considered as post World War II navigational developments. During this period the requirements for navigation have been affected by a number of world events, and changing modes of transportation.
