Abstract: | The Institute’s National Air Meeting was held at Atlanta, Ga. At the Regency Hayatt House 29 Febrary-2 March. The Theme was: “Navigation for General Aviation and Navigation Training.” The meeting opened with a luncheon on 29 February where Richard L. Collins, Senior Editor, Flying, delivered the Keynote address. The first session on 29 February was devoted to “Area Navigation Improvements”, with Jefferson Amaker, Singer-Kearfott, as Chairman. After a free evening on 29 February, Session II on 1 March was devoted to “Navigation Training,” with Major Robert Shepard, Mather AFB as Chairman. The luncheon speaker for the day was Stanley Green, Vice President, Sec’t and General Counsel, General Aviation Manufacturers Association. The Toastmaster was Colonel Leonard R. Sugerman, Immediate past President of the ION. Following the luncheon, Session III was devoted to “Safety” with David Sheftel, FAA as Chairman. The banquet speaker of the evening of 1 March was Mr. John L. Baker, Assistant Administrator FAA for General Aviation Affairs with Dr. Thomas D. Nicholson, ION President as Toastmaster. The meeting closed on 2 March with a morning session on “ More Navigation per Dollar,” Dr. Charles Waepsy, Chairman. H. McKinley Conway, President Conway Research, Inc., was General Chairman; Herman Guffey, Singer-Kearfott, Technical Chairman and John A. Stark, Lockheed-Georgia Arrangements Chairman.
