This book should be appreciated by all interested in the field of navigation. The neophyte, whether he be a newly instructed practical anvigator or a newly graduated engineer or scientist entering some facet of the field of navigation, will enjoy this very readable, though somewhat sketechy, history of navigation. The seasoned navigator or senior engineer or scientist, who will be able to fill in the details glossed over by the author, should appreciate the overall picture of navigation, especially the author's thoughts on modern navigation.
