NAVIGATION TRAINING AT THE U. S. NAVAL ACADEMY

Abstract: Navigation has been taught at the United States Naval Academy since its founding in 1845. In the intervening 127 years, navigation instruction has remained as one of the basic professional courses in the training of midshipmen. This paper addresses itself to the goals of navigation training at the Naval Academy, the cont.ent of the present navigation courses, and the evaluation system of the t.raining received.
