Abstract: | Loran-C is a radionavigation system that has been operational since 1958. The initial development was started during World War II and since that time the system has evolved through several stages. The number of applications and the extent of the system have also significantly increased. In this paper, a historical perspective of Loran-C is presented starting from its inception during WWII. An extensive list of references is provided at the end of the paper for those who desire a greater historical perspective. |
