Abstract: | Autonomous navigation of GPS satellites requires on-board knowledge of UTl-UTC and polar motion values. This study examines the ability of a fourth-order and fifth-order Fourier series to predict UTl-UTC values over six months based on one or three year BIH tables. Results show that UTl-UTC errors of approximately 40 ms occur over six months when three-year data bases are used. Polar motion contributes another .02 arcsec or 1.3 ms. |
