Performance Evaluation of PPP/PPP-RTK in Semi-Urban Areas
Nobuaki Kubo, Tomohiro Ozeki, Ellarizza Fredeluces, Tokyo University of Marine Science & Technology
Location: Prince Edward (Third Floor)
Date/Time: Wednesday, Apr. 17, 10:55 a.m.

In Japan, the PPP-RTK method of CLAS has been officially in operation since 2018, and our laboratory has continued fixed-point evaluation on the roof of our laboratory. We have also conducted long-term fixed-point evaluation of MADOCA-PPP, not only in Japan but also at seven universities overseas, mainly in Asia. The MADOCA-PPP results were generally stable, with horizontal RMS accuracy of less than 10 cm in all countries. CLAS results were also stable with a FIX rate of almost over 99% from 2018 to 2021. However, the results showed a slight degradation in performance as solar activity increased in 2022 and 2023. Next, as semiautomatic operation of long-distance trucks is expected on expressways, the above-mentioned PPP-RTK and PPP technologies are gaining attention instead of conventional RTK. In this presentation, we actually conducted an experiment on the semi-urban area and expressway, and simultaneously obtained data not only from PPP and PPP-RTK, but also from the vehicle's speed sensor and IMU. The reference precise position data was also obtained simultaneously using Applanix's POSLVX. The accuracy of test results achieved by integrating these observation data are introduced. The integration method has been presented at ION and other conferences, but there are some differences from the conventional integration with RTK, and their features will be explained.
