The US Space Force (USSF) Joint Commercial Operations (JCO) “Protect and Defend” mission includes monitoring and characterizing the electromagnetic operational environment to identify threats. The JCO conducts this through non-classified Electromagnetic Spectrum Operations (EMSO), which includes PNT Situational Awareness (PNT-SA).
This short course will include an introduction to JCO’s EM Spectrum Operations that feeds common operating pictures (COPs) across civil and defense, a deep dive into PNT-SA data and data processing that has established initial standards, and real-world use cases to include past and current taskings and crewed and uncrewed civil space resilience and protection.”
Dr. Steven Lewis is from The Aerospace Corporation and is the principal engineer to the NASA Commercial Crew Program, NASA Mission Resiliency and Protection Program, and USSF JCO EM Spectrum Operations. A former GPS space operator, he is now focused on civil space protection and space domain awareness remote sensing.
