A reconfigurable receiver to solve for position, velocity, and time (PVT) from new and emerging satellite signals has been developed. This receiver, known as SNDR-X, can acquire, track, and fuse produced measurements from satellite signals of opportunity, global navigation satellite system (GNSS) signals and new services, such as Xona Space Systems’ Pulsar. The fusion of multi-frequency, multi-source signals enhances a receiver’s resilience to jamming and spoofing through frequency diversity. This presentation will provide an architecture overview of SNDR-X and share the latest test results using various signal types in different environments.
The latest test results from Northern Edge 2025 will be shown, demonstrating the use of SNDR-X to generate PVT measurements and a PVT solution in a GPS-denied environment in the Pacific region. Results will be presented demonstrating the use of real Globalstar signals of opportunity for PVT, as well as a real-time PVT solution from a cold start using Xona Space Systems’ Pulsar X1 and X5 signals fused with Global Positioning System (GPS) signals.
Global economies, military operations, and U.S. critical infrastructure are dependent GNSS signals. The quantity and severity of attacks on GNSS have increased over the last few years. Fortunately, LEO constellations to provide PNT services are being developed by U.S.-based entities and have gained significant traction over the last five years. The use of these LEO-based PNT services alongside GNSS and signals of opportunity can improve positioning and timing through geometric diversity and higher bandwidths and offer jamming resistance from frequency diversity.
