This presentation will describe the efforts underway to upgrade the All Source Position and Navigation (ASPN) data descriptions from a program-specific product to a standard designed to be adopted more broadly by the PNT community as a whole.
Current ASPN data descriptions are not very prescriptive, and as a result different organizations’ uses of ASPN are generally not compatible with each other. Additionally, there are a number of things missing from the existing ASPN data descriptions that are important and need to be included to enable wider adoption by the PNT community.
In this presentation, we will describe the efforts underway to address the weaknesses of the current ASPN data descriptions and upgrade them to a more mature and complete set of standards that will enable true interoperability between systems. We will also cover plans to bring in the user community to provide inputs and suggest changes as ASPN migrates to a true community-maintained set of standards.
