Improving GNSS Performance in Urban Canyon and Indoor

GNSS antenna for outdoor smallcell application need to be install in urban canyons, meaning in ground floor parking area, street level lamp post and external walls of building, for indoor small cell application there is a need to install GNSS antenna inside the buildings in order to simplify the indoor deployment of small cell. Today commercial GNSS antenna are still base on dome shape and were design to be deployed only on roof top of buildings or macro cell towers.
The current GNSS antenna/receiver can’t be deployed in urban canyon since these type of GNSS don’t support any way to protect from multipath signal reflections which are so popular in the above deployment scenarios. There is a need for new approach of implementation that will use unique antennas that were design to deal with multipath signal reflections together with GNSS receivers that can utilize the new antenna and implement algorithm that can avoid, detect and even filter multipath signal reflections. This was all developed by Oscilloquartz Oy, Finland which is GNSS R&D design center for Oscilloquartz SA, Switzerland.
