DME has been traditionally used as a complementary navaid to ILS and VOR, but currently has become the main A-PNT system to GNSS. In these circumstances, although DME it is less sensitive to multipath effects than CW systems, it is essential to detect the potential affections as they could have an important impact on RNAV and RNP flight procedures, both in term of accuracy and continuity of service. To this end, it is necessary to use simulation tools to predict potential areas where signals would be rejected due to multipath or even false locks could occur, and confirm these effects during flight inspections.
