Influence Of Temperature on Flight Inspection of LOC Field Strength

The flied strength of the localizer signal is often varied on the different periodic flight inspection. One of the reasons is that caused by the different flight altitude. Barometric altimeter is designed under ideal atmosphere condition. However in reality air temperature has an important effect on atmospheric pressure. Actually the true height of aircraft is always changing.
In order to investigate the influence of air temperature, this paper presents the theory of barometric altimeter systematically. The error of flight altitude is also calculated in different air temperatures. Additionally, combining with the vertical distribution characteristics of LOC signals, a specific example shall illustrate the change of LOC field strength that in terms of different air temperature.
