GNSS antennas are significant contributors to GNSS aviation positioning performance, in benign RF conditions and especially in contested conditions. The increasing presence of intentional and unintentional RF interference (RFI) is threatening flight safety globally. Controlled Radiation Pattern Antenna (CRPA) technology has been commonly employed to increase GNSS resiliency against RFI; however, export regulations have complicated the adoption of CPRA technology in civil aviation. Following the relaxing of US ITAR restrictions on CRPAs in September 2025, this panel of experts from industry and academia will discuss the benefits and challenges of deploying CRPA technology in aviation.
