Smartphone Decimeter Challenge 2023: Workshop for Benchmark Competition
Sponsored by Google

Background

The goal of Smartphone Decimeter Challenge  is to compute smartphones location down to the decimeter or even centimeter resolution which could enable services that require lane-level accuracy such as HOV lane ETA estimation. Solution will be developed based on raw location measurements from Android smartphones collected in opensky and light urban roads using datasets collected by the host.

Google will launch the 2023 Smartphone Decimeter Challenge (SDC) competition at the ION GNSS+ conference itself. 

Workshop Logistics

Duration - 2 - 3 hours time slot in the tutorial day for an interactive workshop session

Agenda -

  1. Launch 2023 SDC Competition
    1. Welcome note
    2. Brief summary of previous Competitions
    3. Explain how this competition is different from past years
  2. Provide details around datasets, which will include:
    1. Data Collection process
    2. Computing Ground Truth
    3. Time synchronization between sensors
    4. Meaning of various fields in the datasets
    5. Effort made by Google to ensure the quality of the ground truth.
  3. Summary of innovative ideas of past 2 years from the competition 
  4. Getting started using Google Colab
  5. Q&A from the audience related to data, Kaggle platform, etc.
  6. Any other Q&A

In-Person Presentations
These presentations will be given in-person at the conference. Presenters will provide a pre-recorded presentation for on-demand viewing by virtual attendees.
