2022 Superior Achievement Award

Presented to: Major Bryan A. Singer

Citation: For leadership and outstanding instructional ability in the development of innovative training solutions for future combat search-and-rescue aviators

Major Bryan Singer

During 2022, Major Singer (an HC-130J evaluator combat systems’ office [CSO] assigned to the 58th Operations Group as the HC/ MC-130J standardization and evaluations CSO at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico) identified changes in training and evaluation requirements for HC-130J Combat King II CSO trainees in order for them to be fully qualified and capable combat searchand- rescue (CSAR) professionals. These changes include the utilization of an electro-optical infrared camera for conducting reconnaissance and search operations, the use of the lightweight airborne recovery system for locating and communicating with isolated personnel, and the use of the situational awareness communications upgrade system to streamline CSAR coordination and execution. HC-130J instructor CSOs at Kirtland AFB are now able to stay current and proficient in these systems, and can become combat ready rapidly upon reassignment to an operational CSAR squadron. These factors alleviate the strain on these units and improve the quality of CSAR coverage for the entire DoD.

Major Singer attended CSO training at NAS Pensacola, Florida. Upon graduation, he was assigned to Moody AFB in Georgia with the 71st Rescue Squadron, where he held positions as squadron safety officer and mobility officer. Later assigned to Davis- Monthan AFB in Arizona with the 79th Rescue Squadron, he held positions as the squadron chief of training, flight commander, and assistant director of operations. In his current duties, Major Singer instructs and evaluates student CSOs in both HC-130J and MC- 130J mission qualification and instructor upgrade courses.

During his career, Major Singer has deployed to Afghanistan, Djibouti, Turkey, and Qatar in support of operations Enduring Freedom, Freedom’s Sentinel, and Inherent Resolve. His military awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, and the Air and Space Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters.

Major Singer holds a law and justice degree from the Rowan University and an MS in management and leadership from Liberty University.
