Minutes of Washington Section January 2003 Meeting
Evening Meeting – August 14, 2003
The August Institute of Navigation Washington Section meeting was held at the U.S. Naval Observatory (USNO). 33 people attended the meeting including 2 students and the speaker.
6:00 pm: People began arriving around 6:00 for the social hour.
7:00: The business meeting started, and the work of the Stipend Steering Committee was reviewed.
7:30: Mr. Jamie Heller discussed the status of satellite navigation programs around the world and their potential benefits and challenges to GPS users. Russia's GLONASS, Europe's Galileo, and the Chinese Beidou system were described. Demetrios Matsakis gave a tour of the USNO Facilities.
8:30: Meeting adjourned.
