Abstract:The aim of this document is twofold. Firstly to outline the information contained in a NATO Standard Agreement (STANAG 4572) that defines an interface from a Satellite Signal Simulator to an INS processor to be used to enable laboratory testing of integrated INS/GPS equipment. The definition includes the requisite functional content, message-packaging format, timeliness, and precision. Message protocols, electrical circuit characteristics, and logic levels are also defined herein. Secondly the paper contains information on a practical demonstration of the interface using a Global Simulation Systems Limited (GSSL now Spirent Technologies) simulator and a BAE SYSTEMS integrated IN/GPS, and results of that demonstration containing evidence that proves the adequacy of the interface.
