Eric Swanson, N.E.L., was the General Chairman and Captain J.D. Luse, USCG (Ret.) was the Technical Chairman. Sessions were held on the following subjects: I. Radar and VTS - Chairman - Captain Wayne Waldo, M.I.T. & G.S. II. Miscellaneous Subjects - Chairman - Alton B Moody, Consultant III. Offshore Survey Systems - Chairman - Mr. Blair Wilkinson, Automated Marine International IV. Omega and Satellite Navigation - Chairman — D. C. Scull, CG-ONSOD Luncheon speakers were Mr. Harold F. Cary, General Manager & Admin., Ocean Fisheries, Inc. and former head of the American Tunaboat Association and Mr. Max Carpenter of MIT & GS who addressed the shipping industry, including tanker, freighter and fast container shipping. The dinner speaker of 4 November was Mr. Walter P. Mitchel, Head Command, Control and Communications, Department of the U.S. Naval Electronics Laboratory. The meeting though somewhat smaller than expected, turned out to be very interesting, and the papers were excellent. |
