The meeting was opened by Lloyd Perper, ION President, the morning of 14 October. Session I on Ship Guidance and Control was chaired by Dr. Max Carpenter, MIT and GS The luncheon speaker on 14 October was CDR. T.P. Nolan, USCG on the OMEGA System Status. His paper is Included in the proceedings. Session II on Loran-C User Interest was chaired by CDR. David T. Haislip, USCG(Ret.). Session III on Progress Report on the Gettysburg Loran-C Workshop was chaired by Capt. J.F. Culbertson, USCG, H.Q. Loran Coordinator. A delightful banquet, preceded by a reception, was held on 14 October. RADM Robert I. Price, USCG, Chief of Marine Environmental Systems gave a most Interesting and Informative talk after dinner. Session IV on 15 October was on Loran-C Ground Stations and was chaired by CDR. William B. Mohin, USCG H.Q. Session V on Loran-C Signal Processing was chaired by Vernon Weihe, Consultant. The Technical Chairman responsible for selection of papers and arranging the program was CDR. W.F. Roland, USCG. Unfortunately, four papers were cancelled just before the meeting and do not appear in the Proceedings. |
