With its rapid progress in recent years, BeiDou/Compass will make a transition from a regional navigation satellite system to a global system in 2013.The Compass panel will take this opportunity to share with the international GNSS community recent progresses made during the transition effort, issues concerning Phase II open signals, BeiDou text messaging, and transition from Phase II to III, the benefits and issues of future BeiDou international services, and inter-operability and compatibility of Compass with other existing and emerging RNSS and GNSS. This panel consists of Compass authorities from BeiDou Management Office, the Chinese government office that manages and directs the Compass program, academies from Chinese institutions involved in Compass design, implementations, testing, and evaluations, and leading Chinese industries representatives.
