Tycho Brahe Award
Founded by: Mimi Janislawski & Col. Leonard R. Sugerman
Sponsored by: Col. Leonard R. Sugerman Award Trust
Purpose: To recognize outstanding contributions to the science of space navigation, guidance and control.
Eligibility: Individuals making overall contributions to the science of space navigation, whose actions have benefited civilization in any form such as scientific, technical, engineering or theoretical writing.
Memorial: Given in memory or Mary Tornich Janislawski, developer of the Mark II Plotter, a charter member of the ION, the first woman to have received an ION Annual Award for the advancement of navigation, a civilian aviation instruction, a teacher at Berkeley and Stanford, and an author.
