Juan Blanch graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique in France in 1999, majoring in applied mathematics and physics. In 2000, he obtained a Master of Science in aeronautics and astronautics from Stanford University and joined its GPS laboratory, working on ionospheric estimation for the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS). In January 2004, he graduated with a Master's degree in electrical engineering a PhD in aeronautics with the thesis Using Kriging to Bound Satellite Ranging Errors due to the Ionosphere. He then joined the Stanford GPS laboratory as a Research Associate, where he has been implementing the algorithms developed in his thesis in WAAS, and studying new clock and ephemeris correction algorithms for the next generation WAAS.
