Recipient: Dr. Christopher Hegarty Dr. Chris Hegarty is a senior principal engineer with The MITRE Corporation. He has served the ION as a council member and editor of NAVIGATION since 1997, program chair of ION GNSS 2004, and general chair of ION GNSS 2005. In 2000, he served for one year as the FAA’s GPS Modernization Project leader. He is a member of RTCA’s Program Management Committee and co-chair of RTCA SC159’s L5 working group. He was recently appointed as co-chair of SC159 (commencing in June). Over his 15-year career he has received an ION student paper award (1992), ION Early Achievement Award (1998), ION Best Paper awards (1996, 2 in 1999), MITRE President’s Award (1999), ATCA Chairman’s Citation of Merit (2000), FAA Appreciation Award (2000), RTCA Certificate of Merit (2001), and U.S. State Department Superior Honor Award (2005). |
