PRIVACY POLICY

The ION's use of the Internet and the World Wide Web facilitates the operation of ION for the benefit of the membership. Members are best served when information they and others supply via the Web site is kept strictly confidential. It is therefore the policy of the ION that no user-supplied individual information shall be divulged to any third party without the user having explicitly authorized such use. In particular:

  1. User names, addresses (including email addresses) and other personal information shall not be supplied to any third party with the following exceptions:
    1. Lists of ION member names and postal mailing addresses may be rented for one-time advertisement messages via postal mail by industry related organizations Any individual may opt out of such mailings by contacting the ION Membership Department.
    2. Full contact lists of ION GNSS meeting registrants, including e-mail addresses, shall be supplied to ION GNSS exhibitors and advertisers for the purpose of promoting their attendance at ION GNSS and/or the products and services displayed at the same. Any individual may opt out of being included in these lists at the time they register or by contacting the ION Membership Department.
  2. Use of supplied email addresses will be limited to direct email transmission from the ION National Office for the purpose of informing the recipient of relevant information regarding ION's programs and events, or as outlined above. Users may opt out of such mailings by contacting the ION Membership Department. Exceptions: Transactions initiated by the user, such as submission of publication orders, meeting registrations, paper abstracts, membership applications/renewals or awards nominations, may result in a direct email response limited to the topic of that transaction. In addition, ION may contact individuals from time to time on a one-to-one basis concerning ION membership status or organizational policies.
  3. No information about individual use of the Web site (tracking information) will be supplied to any third party. Aggregate information (e.g., web page "hits" or counts) may be supplied.
  4. No third party tracking system (e.g., tracking banner ads) will be allowed to operate on the ion.org Web site, or any server operated by ION.

SECURITY

All ION Internet servers are registered through Verisign as secure servers using industry-standard Certificate techniques. This enables all communication between our servers to be verified when services are requested between our computers. By default, your entry of a credit card is encrypted using the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) of your client browser between your computer and the ION Web Server. The use of appropriate software and encryption options are your responsibility, and the ION assumes no risk or liability in ensuring your compliance to local law.

The ION web site uses non-persistent cookies to implement certain features, such as a shopping basket and registration forms. These cookies allow us to maintain your order information as you navigate through the catalog and elsewhere on the Web site. Once your order is completed, the cookies are eliminated.

Persistent and/or non-persistent cookies may be used to implement member login to the site or to monitor aggregate site traffic and activity statistics. No cookies are implemented for the purposes of tracking individual user behavior except for logging access to paid content. No third party cookies will be allowed on this web site. It is the policy of the ION that cookies do not carry any of your personal information (name, email address, credit card, etc.) nor identification/password-type data that allows access to such personal information on ION Servers.

Unless stated otherwise, this Privacy/Security Policy applies to all member and customer information that ION maintains. The terms of this policy are subject to change at anytime without prior notice, however, changes to this policy will be reflected on this page.
